Advanced Energy’s Global Footprint Helps Ease Customers’ Tariff Concerns

Posted May 02, 2025 by John Donaghey

Over the past few months, the U.S. Administration announced a range of tariffs on imports into the United States. Presently, it is hard to escape news about tariffs and the impacts of those tariffs on businesses worldwide. While customers have to navigate through uncertainties, AE is well positioned to help minimize tariff exposures.

Advanced Energy’s Global Footprint

Despite changes in the landscape, Advanced Energy (AE) is a global company with a network of global factories.

Advanced Energy’s major factories are outside of China. Currently, China has some of the highest tariffs (both for imports into the U.S. from China and imports into China from the U.S.). AE’s major factories are located in Malaysia, Mexico and the Philippines.

Our Mexicali, Mexico location allows us to benefit from the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), ensuring that most of the parts produced there can be imported into the United States without triggering Mexico tariffs. This strategic location allows AE to provide high-quality products to our customers with minimal impact from tariffs.

AE’s non-U.S. locations are not subject to U.S. tariffs when exporting to customers outside of the U.S. (e.g. goods exported from the Philippines or Malaysia to Japan or EU, etc.). Only imports into the U.S. for consumption within the country (e.g. use, manufacturing, sale, service, etc.) are subject to these import tariffs – currently at 10% for countries other than Mexico, Canada or China.

Summary

Overall, AE’s global footprint and ability to manufacture products in different factory locations help to ease tariff impacts for our customers during these uncertain times. Our goal remains to provide precision power conversion and critical sensing and control products to our customers to enable their success.

As the global trade and tariff situation remains fluid, here is a link to frequently asked questions (FAQs) provided as a resource to our customers and partners: FAQ about Tariff.
