Celebrating its 40th year, the 2025 Applied Power Exhibition and Convention (APEC) marked a milestone for the power industry. Held from March 16 to 20 in Atlanta, Georgia, this year's event saw Advanced Energy (AE) take center stage to showcase our latest power and measurement solutions and present on the latest in technologies.

The medical laser market includes laser technologies for surgeries, ophthalmology, and aesthetic treatments. This category covers cosmetic treatments, including scar and wrinkle removal, mole removal, hair removal, tattoo removal, and pigmented skin treatment. The adoption of these non-invasive procedures is increasing. Drivers include lifestyles changes, increased incidence of skin damage and general reduction in procedural costs. With an increasing aging population and a rise in medical tourism, there a greater awareness than ever of aesthetic procedures.

Most imaging devices need patient support, usually a table or sometimes a stool. For upright MRI- or PET-systems the patient support could be a stool. Portable devices like ultrasound and mobile X-ray devices typically don't need patient support. However, devices like CT, MRI, and interventional X-ray scanners have motorized tables that often use one or two power supplies. Several factors determine the power needed for patient support, including the maximum patient weight, the material and weight of the support platform, and the required speed and accuracy of movement. For example, in CT scans during an exam, the speed of the patient support differs significantly depending on the number of detector slices, the body part being examined and the examination itself, and whether contrast media is implemented [1, 2].

Data center energy consumption is projected to exceed 1,000 terawatt hours (TWh) next year, driven by the rapid adoption of generative AI technologies. This is double the energy usage of 2022 and is expected to triple by 2030.

Steel continues to play a crucial role in modern engineering and construction. However, steel requires enormous amount of energy to produce and each ton of steel production generates an average of 1.89 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2)—about 8% of global emissions (World Steel Association). In any imaging system, the noise and ripple on the output of the high voltage supply are critical as they compromise the image quality. Any ripple present at the point of detection will degrade signal integrity and then become amplified before being analyzed and ultimately displayed. To achieve the best possible image quality, defining and managing this power source parameter is crucial to successfully implementing the system.
